What is the Internet?

The Internet is a huge network that connects computers all over the world. It allows people to share information and communicate instantly.

How the Internet Works

The Internet uses a set of rules called TCP/IP. Data is broken into small packets, sent across networks, and reassembled at the destination.

What the Internet Offers

• Websites: Information, news and learning.
• Email: Sending and receiving messages.
• Social media: Staying in touch with people.
• Online work: Freelancing, jobs and business.

Internet vs Web

The Internet is the network, and the World Wide Web is one service that runs on it. They are related but not the same thing.

Why It Matters

The Internet is essential for education, work and communication. Students who understand it can use it safely and productively.
